Infectious diseases as drivers of change
Sunday 29 to Tuesday 31 January 2023, Rigi Kulm
The Platform Biology of the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) invites selected PhD students and post-docs from all biology or medical sciences backgrounds to a 3-day interdisciplinary workshop on infectious diseases (IDs). The workshop is jointly organized by the Swiss Society of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology, Life Sciences Switzerland, the Swiss Society of Microbiology and the Swiss Society for the History of Medicine and Sciences.
The workshop aims to explore the significance of IDs as drivers of change. Our knowledge of the past and present of IDs will be projected onto future scenarios where questions concerning biomedical ethics, loss of biodiversity and natural habitats, human contact limitation and the push towards more digital life experiences, will be critically discussed. The workshop features keynote lectures delivered by leading experts in the field, case studies in teams, and sharing of group and individual work in the form of poster and oral presentations. More information can be found on the event website.
